I should clarify, I don't mean the 'LA Sax' red/blue/white/black stuff, just plain gold tinted lacquer. Also, as a temporary fix, you could cover contact areas with tasteful application of black duct tape. A lot of trombone players do this sort of thing to keep the tarnish of our unlacquered horns off of our collars and faces.
