OK, I tried it, and it won't work on my horn. there is not room for the extra tubing to clear the bell. Non-piggy horns should not have a problem. I try my extra tubing on the next 601 I get near.
You can from the picture how much tubing must be added for a low C# to even come close to being in tune on a 4 valve horn, and this is with the first valve slide pulled, and my 2nd valve trigger all the way out!.
For the record, both slide tubes add about 24" to the length for a pedal C#, but less than that to get a C# right below the staff in tune using the 4th valve alone. using the tubing that way, a pedal D comes out very nice with 4 vaves down without any extra slide pulling.
