I don't see any reason why you shouldn't get to use your own horn. If anything, I would help a serious student get used to his new professional model CC orchestral tuba in band class. But I have to admit, it must be nice to be able to attain a new CC tuba while in prep school. In my high school, if you wanted to play tuba, a roll of duct tape, and finding the right pieces that fit will get you there. I didn't -buy my own- CC tuba with my own hard earned money til my Junior year in college. I couldn't imagine even having my own tuba in school. It must be nice.
