I bought one over a year ago and have enjoyed it immensely for giving tuba lessons and for playing trio and quartet jobs with no piano or drum. You will never mistake it for a big tuba, but its smallness bothers me only when I work with a larger ensemble. Intonation is great except for high C above the staff, which is flat. I tried two of them at Dillon's and they both had the same problem, which is said to be there with the CC version also. A shallow mouthpiece did not fix it, but fourth valve or third valve alone seems to solve that problem when I remember to use it. The valves are a joy to use. I would like to find a similar valve set to graft onto another old tuba. I wish the mouthpiece receiver were a bit higher, but the horn is so light that it is easy to hold.
