I don't know of any online articles specifically about mouthpiece selection, but check the web sites of some of the shops listed on this site and mouthpiece manufacturers. They should have some discussion of the impact of various mouthpiece dimensions. Harvey Phillips discusses mouthpiece dimensions in the book "The Art of Tuba and Euphonium." You can also check "The Tuba Sourcebook" and Cliff Bevans "The Tuba Family."

It actually takes more control to play a larger mouthpiece. A larger deeper cup can produce a darker, fuller tone, as can a larger backbore, but requires a stronger embouchure. That is why I suggested a smaller mouthpiece to start. Also, the Helleberg 7B, and I think the Shilke Helleberg is about the same size, is a good all-around mouthpiece even for experienced players for a reasonable price.
