Michael Tilson Thomas conducted the Cleveland Orchestra and Chorus with soloists Judith Blegen, Kenneth Riegel, and Peter Binder in a performance of Carmina Burana on a Columbia LP from the '70s (MX-33172). I'd be surprised if it hadn't been reissued at some time on a Sony Classical CD. It was billed as a "Sonic Dazzler," as many Carmina Burana recordings are marketed.

Like you, Rick, I've also heard renditions of this segment where a bloat soprano murders the character of the piece, even if she can scream the high D. But Judith Blegen's interpretation is heavenly.

Not to mention -- [obligatory tuba content] -- Ron Bishop is solid as a rock!!
