One of the most powerful/emotional pieces I've ever played/heard is Daniel Bukvitch's Symphony #1 in memorium of the bombing of Dresden, Germany. The last movement is really amazing. It starts with the tubas (the bombers) and goes through bombs and screaming. It ends with a flute player solo sounding like a weeping mother. Not really warm fuzzy's, but really emotional.
