Orchestra -

Tchaikowsky 6 - particularly the end of the third movement transitioning into the fourth movement, as long as the audience does not applaud to shatter the effect.

Mahler 2 - all over the place, especially the last movement.

Band -

"Gloriosa" - A piece by a Chinese composer whose name I cannot remember. I played this piece in college. Has anyone else played this who can remember the composer's name? It is a symphonic-type portrait of Christian persecution in China. It's one of the most powerful pieces I have ever played.

"Watchman, Tell Us of the Night" - Mark Camphouse's piece about the horror of child abuse. Another piece I played in college. Its portrayal of a child's innocence being crushed by an adult's cruelty is chilling.
