Peterson tuners are very expensive because they have transposition, preprogrammed and programmable temperaments, adjustable pitch reference and digital accuracy to within .001 of a semitone. I guess they are the most accurate and have many added features. The Auto Strobe 590 is the same as the Auto Strobe 490, except the 590 includes built-in tone generation and metronome. You think that is expensive, the Strobe Center 5000 is $2,735.00. It's list price is $4,300.00, so I guess it's a good deal. I got all of this information from the Brasswind Catalog.
