consider getting the DVD on Arthaus that has the Staastkapelle Dresden, conducted by Giuseppe Sinopoli, doing the R. Strauss "Alpine Symphony". There are lots of terrific shots of the orchestra (sorry, no nature shots), including the two tubas. They're using pretty big horns of some type, so you can really hear them growling away in the low register during the storm sequence. They use a rather flimsy looking thunder sheet, however. It kind looks like someone just opened up a reel of Reynold's aluminum wrap. Seriously, the Staatskapelle really plays the daylights out of this piece.
