While not a repairman, I did sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Unsticking rotary valves is the same as removing and reinstalling the valves, except you don't actually need to fully knock out the back cap, just loosen it enough for the valve to start to spin, then tap the cap back in til it's in its seated position and play away.

If you have piston valves which have stuck, then that horn has really been sitting around a while. Can't help you there. Ya might need a repairman.

I clean my valves with valve oil as I oil them. They don't really get that bad. If they get a buildup of the green stuff, then I would also be curious as to the remedy. My third valve on my F gets stuck after just 2 days of no F tuba playing. The spindle on the bottom has a buildup which binds when it dries out.
