I play the YFB822 and do agree that the larger bore instrument is the way to go. The smaller Yamaha F is too small for orchestra and the larger one holds up well in chamber music or solo playing. Problems that I and others have experienced: 2nd space C is sharp and needs to be played with 4th valve (when trying it out, I called Toby Hanks and he said the same about his, but said for it was a good trade-off for the great lower register); first leger line C# above the staff is flat. This one is a killer, especially for Mendelsohnn's Midsummer's Night Dream Overture and Vaughan Williams and other tunes. 2 & 4 fingering works, but nailing it is a bit more risky with more tubing used.

This horn will do what you want an F to do. The silver is brighter than lacquer. My experience with the German F's that I have played and owned is that the lower register doesn't center as well, although they have a warmer sound. I haven't play the Meinl Weston.
Happy Hunting
