If he's really got talent, and is going to be a serious musician, then you should go ahead and buy a CC. If he majors in music in college, most likely the tuba teacher will require/strongly reccomend that he play CC. Unless you plan on buying another horn in a couple years, then get a CC. It will already be easier for him to learn CC (CC requires different fingerings) than it would be 3 years from now, and it will also give him an edge in all state band, clinics, etc. The top 3 tubas in my all state band play CC, and all the others want to switch. A couple years from now, I predict, everyone in all state will play CC. Good luck on your tuba purchase,
