I'd have to say Dr. Jerry Young at the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire. I met him when he was teaching at Interlochen and was immediately impressed with his honesty and grace. His incredible knowledge of tuba/euph playing sealed the deal.

He not only helped me become a much better player, he helped me become a much better man. The lessons I learned from him help make me a very good teacher.

He studied with Dan Perantoni, Arnold Jacobs, and Harvey Phillips among others. He passed all their good qualities as teachers down to me, and I hope to honor him and all of them by passing that along to my students.
