Eric, If you are confused between the two mouthpieces it is probably because you assume that they exactly the same, dimentionally speaking. As another person has pointed they are not they same. The angle on the bore is steeper to the throat, causing the size of the throat bore also to be be smaller. Hence the difference in playing characteristics.
