I've experimented with several sheet materials such as vinyl, urethane, rubber, polyesther, fabrics, and other assorted gasket materials. I keep coming back to cork and felt mainly because it's easy to get. Given my druthers, I would rather buy a large assortment of pre-cut washers and just use my leather punches for odd-ball shims. $25 is really pricey for a few washers! I guess that's to be expected for an item that's not exactly mass produced. There ought to be some industrial equivalents that can be had cheaply.
