I would seriously consider learning this excerpt on euphonium. I have found that most tubists are more accurate on an euphonium than a bass tuba. There are many options that you should look into, including mouthpieces that have a tuba rim with a cup and shank of a euphonium mouthpiece, or trying to locate an Alexander tenor tuba, which in my opinion, is the best instrument for this excerpt.

Whatever you choose, make sure you don't practice this excerpt much longer than 10 minutes or so without playing the same amount of time on a contrabass tuba in the extreme low register. This is very important in order to insure proper development of the high register playing without causing damage to your embouchure.
