I've played a number of 2XJ's -- 20/21J, 24/25J and a 22J -- over the years and have loved them, despite not being particularly large (6' 130lb) wen I played them. I always used a bit with them, as specified by Conn, and generally did not seem to have the intonation issues others report (but I have played ones with that 3rd partial). The amazing thing was that, for me, the horns spoke very easily, much more easily in fact than many other horns, such as my current King 2341.
The only horn I've really preferred to a 2XJ was the BBb Alex I had at one time -- never should have sold it when I stopped playing in 1971, but a couple of well-known players asked me to sell it to a guy who'd just gotten a great job, and I did.
