If you seriously need a bigger mouthpiece, then check out Marcenkiewicz (sp?). He has a line of contrabass trombone mouthpieces that fit in regular bass trombone shanks. Guys like Charlie Vernon use 'em. My fear is that it stops sounding like a bass trombone for those of us a little more human than Charlie Vernon. I personally like the variation of mouthpieces to help me "settle in" with each horn better and differentiate the approach that must be used between the two. I have used a Bach 1G with a drilled out throat to much success. That is as big as I currently would feel comfortable going ang still getting that edge to the sound especially for Jazz Band.
