My brother has been living and teaching in Singapore for the past 6 years. He teaches english. He also has a PhD in english literature. You will probably need an advanced degree to teach over there. The pay is good but the universities like people with advanced degrees. Have you ever been to that part of the globe? I spent 2 weeks traveling over there and I could not wait to get the heck out of Dodge. Research your move well before you make a decision. It is not so easy to find a job back in the states after being overseas for a while. That's been the case for my brother anyway.
Don't let people dog your music degree. You will find your place. Once you do you will be glad you stuck to your plan.
