The nice and knowledgeable people of this forum, and they are the majority here, certainly will try to be helpful. But if they have some instrument worth playing, they hardly will let it go for a price within your budget bracket.

A band-room clearance sale at a school or the really lucky find at a private garage sale might be a chance of yours.

For your specific purpose, you should not overlook the option of finding a sousaphone, that might not win a beauty contest, but that will deliver soundwise.

One of the least popular items on auctions is a plastic sousa with chips and cracks in the bell. With some creativity in the handyman and decoration areas, such an instrument could be transformed into something very playable and eyecatching, even if it might not be invited to parade on the White House lawn. (But still ask if the slides will slide and the pistons will pass the pop test. Before bidding).
