The louder you want to play, the more open the oral cavity must be so as not to alter the pitch. When you pivot for the low notes, the lower jaw comes down and forward. You may have been keeping it too far forward, or just way too tight. Sometimes when we have to play loudly, we let our bodies become very tense. Remember, apart from Wind, the most important thing about our instruments is...RELAX!!!
