Ok. Here's my thoughts. I've played both euphs, more of the 967 than the 451, but here's my "list":
Besson 967
great sound
great response
weird intonation
good valves if taken good care of
nice set up
Meinl 451
mediocre sound
bad response
bad intonation
REALLY bad valves (both action and loudness)
compact set up
Basically, I hated the 451 and somewhat liked the 967. For the money, the Yamaha 642 is a great horn. If you want to spend the money, go for either the Willson, Hirsbrunner, Yamaha 842 Custom, or the Besson Prestige. I like all of these horns, and have actually owned 2 of them. I would love to own one of them all. Great horns. Hope I have helped.
