Reciently I had a particullarly bad bell crush due to an airplane incident, which since the case wasn't damaged, they wouldn't pay. It couldn't get much worse, so I decided to carefully experiment.

I was able to successfully "roll" out the crushed bell with a large wooden chef's rolling pin leaving fewer scratches (almost none) than the pros have when they have worked on my horns making me wonder why I've paid so much in the past.

I still advise a pro work on the horn if you haven't done much horn repair before. Talk to Sam Pilafian for good tuba repair shops in AZ, he teaches tuba there at Arizona State University in Phoenix.
