I've had pretty good luck unsoldering the guard, then using the dent eraser, then reattaching the guard. It's no 30-second job, but it's easier than taking the whole blinkin' horn horn apart.
The one type of dent that the DE doesn't seem to do very well on is what I'd call a "sharp dent" where the bottom of the dent is a crease (as if someone had whacked the horn with a hatchet). Of course, regular dent balls don't work very well on these either. Pretty much a job for rolling or tapping out over a mandrel.
