GREAT OLD HORN! That ugly old King of Phil's is one of the nicest sounding BBb tubas I have ever tried. Tom Railsback from Montana has a 3 valve version of it that is still my favorite. If anyone is looking for a great old horn and doesn't want to pay "York" prices, think about the old Kings. I've only seen a few of these pre World War One King BBb tubas, but they have all been great. Better than average intonation and a warm sound. I think the bell throat is even larger than the similar sized Yorks. The leadpipe is rather high and at an upward angle. Not the most comfortable for sit down play, but stand up, it is just right.
