Your problems with the Yamaha sousaphone could be; 1) dents in critical areas 2)leaks in critical areas (water keys, tubing joints) 3) mis-aligned valves 4) the bell tenon and socket don't fit tightly enough 5) mouthpiece choice or condition. I'd suggest going to your local instrument repairman to get the instrument checked out, then you won't have to be guessing what's wrong.
