Did anyone else hear the NPR interview with the late Sam Phillips. In the interview it came up that Sam played tuba in high school, which only confirms my belief that the best ears in music are developed in the tuba section.
In case you don't know, Sam started Sun Records in Memphis and discovered such R&R icons as Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Ray Perkins, and dozens of others.
