If you're considering the VMI 2103, you should look at the Brook Mayes F. Schmidt 2103. From what I was told when I bought a tuba a bit ago, the F. Schmidt is a stencil of the VMI and appears to be a good bit cheaper.
I bought a F. Schmidt 2103 about 2 years ago and have really enjoyed it. I play in a community band and play in church every once in a while.
