You are right to "treasure" your 28K. I play another make/model of "shoulder-mounted" Eb 4V instrument (in jazz bands) occasionally, but if I had a chance to get a 28K at a good price, I would be very interested. (' previously had a King - sold it - ' know that the old Conn's play better than the old King's)

I still wouldn't "invest" serious hours or time (or hope) in adding a 4th valve to a 26K. (We're in agreement here, I think.)
1/ Probably the results willing either be very disappointing or else waaaaay to expensive in time or $$$$.
2/ NO one is going to "part out" a 4V 28K anyway. If the 4th valve stuff is in good shape, that is by FAR the most valuable part of it, and everyone knows that.
