I recorded this guy not to long ago on tuba with a Audio Technica XM9 kick drum mic up close right in the bell, and a Rhode NT1 condenser mic to catch the room sound. It worked fantastic for the the C tuba but really bad for the F it made it sound to airy. It just wasn't picking up the right freqency. but anyway this is a really good sounding set up you could do for about 400.00 with a mixer. Tuba is really hard to record because most mics arn't made for those freqencies and tamber.
