Well during a the school year in highschool I used to get 3-4 hours after school ended. Then one summer I was able to spend basically the entire day on the horn, practicing about 6-8 hours a day. And on the weekends of that summer, since their was absolutely nothing else to do, I would be on the horn about 12 hours out of the day. It all depends on what kind of prctice you can continue to do. I wouldn't reccomend practicing for hours on end for a just a little while, and then cutting your practice time in half. Do what you can do on an extremely regular basis. It really helps out your chops, and increases the amount of real learning going on during your practice time.
