They're both great horn, each with they pros and cons. CCB-683-5M takes a little getting used to but once you're on it full time it's a killer horn for strolling and combo work. It's not too big so it let's you manuver around those tables at Sunday Brunch gigs. The Holton has the classic American tone. I'm an old Conn 2Jer an I just love the response and tone of those old Conns. The Holton captures that. The down side of the Holton is the placement of the 4th valve slide (in the back, poking the player in the gut), the lack of a 5th valve, and the weight, it weighs a ton. But if your in shape, physically and chop wise, the three downers aren't an issue.
