I'm not that fond of Silent Brass (or any other really restrictive practice mute) because it changes the playing characteristics of the instrument somewhat. However, with your situation, the SB allows you to hear yourself better than you would with a non-amplified practice mute. I have no idea of any adjustments possible, but how far the mute goes in the bell would seem to affect sound and possibly intonation. As usual...a play test would be in order.
