As with Gary's suggestion, I also put wheels on my hard case. 10" wheels are good idea for curbs, etc. The 2" rigid caster wheels I am using on my hard case work just as well. I lift the case over curbs and carry up stairs, etc., but the wheels don't get in my way putting the case into my car. I use what is called a "chest handle" on one end of the case to pull it, with the wheels under the other end, kind of like a minature semi-truck trailer. Sure beats carrying the whole weight of the tuba! Any good hardware store can help you with the parts and pieces to do it yourself.
