I am currently using a 2145 for all my tuba playing. After trying various things, here is what I am currently using:

All around versatility - Parke Ofenloch. Very clear, focused sound with a lot of 'core.' Excellent response top to bottom, can play big or small. Expensive but a great piece.

F tuba wannabe (Berlioz, VW concerto, etc) - Rudy Meinl RM-9 with 7.8 backbore. (8.0 works too) Great tone, much brighter color than the P-O, sings almost like an F up high.

BIG stuff (Tchaik 6, etc) - Warburton-Neilan. Basically a heavyweight Arnold Jacobs with a large rounded rim. No-holds-barred FFF without breakup, even in low register.

I have tried the PT-50 when I first got the horn, and it was alright but there was just something I felt it was lacking. I think the Parke Ofenloch fills that niche better.
