Thanks for your input. I agree that most anything that the tuba comes up against in the repetoire can be handled by the right sized F. While I wouldn't want to do the Ring Cycle, Fountains, or most Prokofiev on one, the F is a logical choice for most orchestral work. I can see a problem in orchestras with 105+ members, but for the majority of mortals, the F stands up well.
