That backbore, as far as I could see, is so completely different from anything else out there. The overall length of the mpc shank seems to be shorter (may be just the outside shape), but besides that, the shank wall at the end is very thick, and the throat/backbore seems to have a cylindrical shape to a good portion of it.

_Because_ it's so different, everything must be this way for a very specific reason. I wouldn't experiment with it on my own, but instead I might consider going to Monette's shop and having one custom-made.

Also, the playing concepts Monette describes will work on any mpc, on any instrument, for anybody -- the principles aren't new.
