I play a PT-3, and I love it. in addition to echoing the thoughts about tone and intonation below, I would like to add why the PT-3 is a great horn. I am not big big fan of HUGE horns, and I needed the flexibility of an instrument that would be great for solo work, band work, and small ensembles. This horn can handle it all!
I have found it easy to play in all registers, and the valves are easily and smartly adjusted for intonation. When I was at Bowling Green State University, about 60% of the new horns bought were PT-3s from Custom. It is a very, very good horn.
