It's not a totally unfeasible idea. there are some pretty small CC's out there. I have played my 4/4 yamaha F next to a small Conn CC (a 4 piston, I thing the 4J? 3J?) and it sounded about the same size, maybe even a little bigger, but my F had a darker sound. The larger bore of the Yamaha let me blow a lot more without edging out.
