The PT-4P is, in my experience and opinion, a very good horn for someone who needs versatility. In a perfect world you probably would want a nice 5/4 horn for the orchestral stuff and a 4/4 Eb or F tuba for the quintet. Well, we don't live in a perfect world and not too many people can afford two horns. If you get the PT-4P, get a PT-48 or PT-50 mouthpiece for orchestral playing and a PT-72 mouthpiece for quintet work. In my experience and opinion those mouthpieces work very well with that horn. But by all means, play lots of horns and find the one that sounds like the great tuba player in your head!!!!
