Some bass trombone players use an extension slide to D in the place of the Gb slide. Most often I see Edwards bass trombones configured this way, It makes for a lot of extra tubing sticking out behind the rest of the bell section. I'm not a bass trombone player, so I couldnt tell you what key would be produced from both the D valve in addition to the F valve, the D side is considerably longer than the F. I'm trying to think, F side is a 5th lower than fundamental Bb, so with both F and D valves that would drop the fundamental to...? D is a sixth of F so...? I need a little help with this one. hmmm
