I think that Jim is right. Physically he won't be able to do much until age 9 or so. Another great way to nurture this interest would be to expose him to as many tuba performances as possible: live symphonic programs, community band & military band performances, brass quintet performances, and especially professional & student recitals at your nearest university. Stick around afterwards & meet the players and look at their horns. We're a pretty laid-back group and are always interested in giving the young 'uns a leg up.
