Hirsbrunner doesn't have the same types of "quality" controls that say, Yamaha does, but then again a Hirsbrunner ain't a Yamaha either. All of the Hirsbrunners are good horns and the piston F's and Yorkbrunner are among their best current products. As far as "priced so far into the stratosphere" as you put it, that is a whole different issue which I will leave alone.

Luckely, especially in the last 5 years or so, their have been several 4/4 instruments which have come to market which match or possibly even better the 4/4 Hirsbrunner CC. Manufacturers such as Meinl Weston, B&S, VMI, and others now offer horns which are both less expensive in the United States and have similiar quality and playing characteristics. You don't have to pay the $13,500+ price tag for a Hirsbrunner 4/4 CC to get a great horn. Other comparable instruments sell for around $8000-$10000.
