Eric, I bought one last summer. It is a very nice horn. You pick it up to play and it just feels good. It is a very solid horn that has nice heavy duty construction. The sixth valve is the same as the third valve, but you use it on the lower notes so you can play better in tune. It has a very singing sound especially in the high register. It's a great solo horn, but is also effective in quintets, orchestras and bands. I play mine very flat because i switched from Bb to F, so be aware of that. It may not happen to you, but it does happen to many players. I would definately recommend it; it's a well made horn with a large, singing tone and the 5th and 6th valves really help with tuning. If you already play F tuba great, but if you don't just remember that the fingerings are different and it's a little tricky, but you'll do fine I'm sure. If you need any more information just e-mail me. Good luck shopping.
