i am the proud owner of a miraphone 1816V F Tuba. it's great in every register and has a huge sound. the lowest note you can play on any horn has to do with how slowly your lips will vibrate. the 6 valves allow for better tuning of the low register, so this horn allows you to play lower, better in tune. I personally can hit an F two octaves below the bottom space of the bass clef. that's a double pedal F. in scientific terms that's about 22Hz, or 22 cycles per second. in other words you can go about an octave below what you would usually need. hope this helps.
