I own a yamaha yfb 822 in silver and I love it. I would not trade it for any other f tuba in the world. The LSU studio just bought the MW 45S-lp and everyone who has played it played mine also and like mine better. The sound on the Yamaha is a little brighter than the NW and the low range is quite stuffy on the MW. Another thing I dislike about the MW is the mouthpiece reciever. It put the mouthpiece in a wierd spot and I could not play the horn comfortably. I agree with Michael Russo that the MW does have more of a german sound but I was looking for a good orchestral f tuba that wasn't too big for solo work. The MW would easily be drowned out in a large orchestra. Another good f tuba is the Willson. It costs even more than the Yamaha but I have heard great things about it. you may look at that horn also. Good luck.
