This begs the question(s): What is the quality of the Naptster file? What standards were applied to placing in it Napster? What was the condition of the Naptster source? What would the market be for a CD version, professionally remastered from a mint (or as near) condition vinyl copy. That means, broadcast or high end audiophile grade turntable, arm cartridge, with a "maestro" at the controls. Likely candidates are Don Tait of WFMT and Chicago SO archives, Ward Marsten, a venerated practitioner of the art for Biddulph, Pearl, Philadelphia Orch., and NYP archives, and his own label, and Mark Obert-Thorn, an alternative to either of the above. There are a FEW others. You gotta be a little whacked-out and obsessive to be good at this kind of thing, and these guys are. By now I wouldn't be surprised if most or not all of Arnold Jacobs Portrait is on Napster, but people are still buying it, because some things are better to have than to cop. And by the way, Ward is the guy who remastered the Jacobs/Strauss 1st Horn Concerto for Portrait from an unplayed Jacobs family copy.

So I say- - -GO FOR IT!
