As a former co-coordinator for the D.C.
TUBACHRISTMAS, I thought I'd respond to your
post. The original performances were outside at the
Ellipse and were part of the annual Pageant Of Peace.
Eventually, thanks to Harvey and Dave Bragunier, this
event was moved inside to the Kennedy Center. This
change made it necessary to provide (folding) chairs for
the majority of participants. There were always more
players than seats, but usually the people that stood
were sousaphones, helicons, and late arrivals. Bring the
horn that you are most comfortable with, but it never hurts
to have more Fs and Ebs there. Remember, you will be among
well over 200 tubas and euphoniums who are all there to have
a good time and celebrate the Holiday.
(Wish I could be there.)
