But what is the PRACTICAL problem w/ red rot? Is the brass weakened, does it leak, is there a sound difference? And can it be halted, or is it one of those conditions that, once you've got it, just marches on until it consumes everything in its path? Seems like cutting the pre-practice coke and regular cleanings could halt the progress of red rot, since it's a chemical reaction.
